| Several of her books have been
made into classical films - Black Narcissus. The River and The Greengage
Summer. Other books were made into films too - Enchantment from A Fugue
in Time, Innocent Sinners from An Episode of Sparrows and into TV films
- In this House of Brede, and The Peacock Spring. Two childrens books, The Diddakoi and The Dolls House were made into BBC films as Kizzi and Tottie respectively. River (1951) ... aka Fleuve, Le Released by The Criterion Collection, The River also contains the biographical documentary of Rumer Godden made by the BBC for Bookmark and filmed in India with her daughter Jane. The River was directed by Jean Renoir and is being shown this year at the Cannes Film Festival in the Classics Events. |
